QW #5

I think he is trying to say that if people in a marriage didn't try to control what the other person does, marriages would be a lot happier. I can see how this could have been taken the wrong way yet I can see how he is trying to say that husbands and wives must simply respect each other and not get in the way of how the other person wants to live their life. If a wife were to boss around a husband or vice versa it would not be a healthy relationship. Marriage is about understanding each other and allowing each other to be your own person, not being bossy. At the end he is making the point that if each spouse tried to be their best, the marriage would be at its best.

QW #4 Compare/contrast the movie to book

I think that all of these differences make a huge difference in the development of the plot because the background of Janie in the movie is not as deep. The grandma's attitude towards marriage is not explained because you are not given the rich and complicated background of Janie's family. This makes the marriage to an older gentleman kind of random vs. in the book it is very understandable that the grandma would want a bright future for Janie.

QW #3 Authentic Voice

Writing a book about a struggle of people that you have not been through is definitely difficult to do without offending some people. For example, the help is a lot different than battle royal because of the narrator. The help although negative, has a much more optimistic outlook on the black struggle while battle royal is a much more pessimistic outlook with little hope for the black struggle. The two books leave the reader with completely different feelings and it is because of the way they are written and who narrates it. Writing books must come from authenticity and the help is way less authentic than books such as battle royal and their eyes are watching god.

QW #2 The Help

I can definitely see how this article makes sense because although the help is a good book and was enjoyable to read, yet I can tell how it being not accurate will make it not a good book to portray the black struggle. It is almost impossible for an author to write something accurately and well if she/he has not been through these struggles. I can see how the article makes sense but also literature is literature and can be written by anyone with imagination.

QW #1 Peer Editing

Peer editing is important because it gives students a chance to see others works and perhaps use that as an example for their own work. This enables students to get better ideas of how to write and see other peoples work. Also, by grading other peoples you are able to see flaws that you might have made yourself that you can later go back and fix without having your teacher needing to say it to you and reflect it in your grade. It is important to do this and see how you can improve your writing by taking examples from other people.

QW #8 FRANK

This movie was very fast paced and I didn't like it very much. It was graphic and it felt a little too dramatic. The acting was very good but like I said, dramatic. I would give it 3 stars out of 5 just because it did do a good job of going from the book to the movie yet sometimes it took a little too much movie freedom. I did like how it was easy to follow and it tied the book together for me but it was still very hard to follow. It skipped over a lot of important things and spent too long on some things so I would to see more of certain parts

Do now QW #7

Fear is something that keeps up with the times. For example, now the fear is terrorism and gun violence whereas some years ago, these were not legitimate fears. Whatever is feared in the modern times, is what people tend to fear in movies. Now we have tons of movies with kidnappers and gun violence and that is what is scary to us now. Im not scared of monsters or much because I know that they don't exist, but some time ago, people still believed in a lot of mythical creatures that might have scared them. Now we seem to be afraid of scarier things that we have seen impacting people all over the world. The movie Gattaca was something that scared me too because it is close to a reality. We get scared when we think something could possibly become a reality and frankly, Frankenstein doesn't scare me much because of the fact that I know it will never come true.
